Fatigue, exhaustion, recovery: a cycle that determines performance
The basic scheme of the process that occurs during physical activity is as follows: fatigue – exhaustion – recovery (regeneration).
The above-mentioned process is cyclical, and after quality recovery, fatigue can follow again, and the entire cycle repeats. This cycle permeates our entire lives, as it naturally does not only concern fatigue associated with sports activity but also, for example, with work activities. During recovery, depleted energy resources are restored, balance is regained, and regulatory and coordination mechanisms are adjusted. The speed and quality of recovery are influenced by the nature of the previous exertion, its intensity, duration, and the nature of the rest.
Recovery is a matter of a comprehensive approach and utilizes a whole range of means: from pedagogical, through psychological and pharmacological, to biological means. We definitely must not overlook common methods, such as massages or water treatments. However, today we will be particularly interested in representatives of sports nutrition.
Basic tasks of recovery from the perspective of nutrition
It is crucial to maximize the replenishment of liver and muscle glycogen and the maximum saturation of muscle cells with carbohydrates. The basic and most important measure for optimal recovery must be carried out immediately after physical activity – the sooner, the better. Usually, shortly after exertion, the body’s functions return to 80–85% of the initial level when the principles of recovery are followed. Carbohydrate replenishment should begin almost immediately after the exertion, ideally within 20 minutes after completing the physical activity.
Nutritional means we can apply during recovery
As a proper solution, we offer carbohydrate and protein-carbohydrate cocktails that will ensure the supply of essential quickly absorbable sugars, and possibly proteins, immediately after physical exertion. These include, for example, After Training Protein or during the bulking phase, you can also use Mass Gain or Mass Core.
After prolonged high-intensity activity, we recommend the top carbohydrate drink Regener, a special recovery formula designed for a depleted body after physical exertion. Regener provides sufficient amounts of carbohydrates, minerals, and vitamins for the fastest onset of recovery processes. The drink also contains a range of functional substances such as BCAA amino acids, glutamine, arginine, etc...
The body can also use proteins as an energy source
We must always consider the partial degradation of proteins and the use of amino acids as an energy source. Our body always utilizes a certain proportion of proteins for energy coverage, and this proportion increases if the exertion is prolonged and we have limited easily usable energy sources. To minimize this undesirable state as much as possible, it is very appropriate to use essential amino acids before exertion. Try EAA Mega Strong Powder, a blend of nine essential amino acids in instant form, supplemented with vitamins, zinc, and green tea extract.
Don’t forget about your joints, which are burdened by physical activity. Therefore, provide your stressed joints with quality nutrition in the form of the product Flexit Gold Drink. It contains a complex of key substances suitable for joint issues and supports active movement. This high-quality instant drink contains 9 active substances and also tastes great.
If you really want to enjoy sports, the exception shouldn’t end with getting off the bike. Sports are not just about sweating; sometimes they can even hurt. Recovery is the process during which the body returns to balance. This means that not only are energy reserves restored, but also damaged tissues are repaired, and the water and electrolyte environment is balanced. Quality recovery is the cornerstone of your progressively increasing performance. It allows you to increase training doses. It helps you push the boundaries of your possibilities a little further. Without quality recovery, it is absolutely impossible to achieve sports progress. It allows you to dive back into what you truly enjoy the next day.
